Get to know the Purisima Dam in Guanajuato City

The Purísima Dam is a dam located in the municipality of Guanajuato, in central Mexico. During its construction, a small town called Zangarro was flooded, where there was a church dedicated to the Virgin of Dolores.

The Temple of the Virgin of Dolores, also known as the Temple of the Purísima, was built in the 18th century and was one of the first temples in the region. When the Purísima Dam was built in the 1950s, the temple was submerged under water.
