Visit Mineral de la Luz

Mineral de la Luz is a small town located in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. It was founded in the late 19th century as a mining city to extract silver, gold, and other precious metals from nearby mines. The town owes its name to the torches that were used to illuminate the mines during the mineral extraction process, giving it a bright and luminous appearance.

Today, Mineral de la Luz is a quaint and tranquil town that retains its historic and architectural charm. Its cobblestone streets, adobe houses, and old buildings serve as a reminder of the town's mining past.

Among the places of interest in Mineral de la Luz are the ancient mines, some of which are still in operation; the church of San Pedro Apóstol, which dates back to the 18th century and boasts an impressive baroque facade; and the main square, which is a popular spot for relaxing and enjoying the local atmosphere.

Furthermore, Mineral de la Luz is known for its festivals and cultural events, such as the National Silver Fair, held in November, and the Chamber Music Festival, which takes place in July.

Discover the Traveling Mummies of Guanajuato

The Traveling Mummies Exhibition is a temporary display that takes place at the foot of the monument to Christ the King, located at the top of the Cerro del Cubilete in Silao, Mexico.

This exhibition is different from the famous Museum of Mummies in Guanajuato, which is located in the central area of the city. Unlike the Museum of Mummies, where mummified bodies are permanently exhibited, the Traveling Mummies Exhibition at Christ the King is temporary and changes regularly, so you may not always see the same mummies.

The Traveling Mummies Exhibition at Christ the King is composed of a selection of mummies that were found near the city of Guanajuato and for reasons beyond the state, were out of the country for 4 years. The mummies have been preserved through natural mummification techniques. These mummies are exhibited in wooden coffins and placed inside the temple of Christ the King, which provides a unique and mysterious atmosphere for the exhibition.

In addition to the mummies, the exhibition also includes a selection of ancient objects and artifacts related to pre-Hispanic culture and the history of Guanajuato.
